HOLDERNESS HUNT

Autumn Hunting

(September-October)

Head Gear:Good fitting hunt cap, black or navy (ladies) or Bowler.


Only Masters and Hunt staff should wear the ribbon down on their hats showing their authority from the back.


Good fitting skull cap with blue or black silk.

 

Coat: Ratcatcher Tweed or discrete Tweed with single vent.

 

Shirt - male: Tattersall or plain with tie.

 

Shirt - female: Tattersal or plain with stock and stock pin horizontal.

 

Waistcoat: If desired an appropriate colour.

 

Gloves: If desired an appropriate colour.

 

Breeches or Jodphurs: Buff

 

Boots: Long black or brown however brown boots are correct. Spurs are correct as are garter straps worn below the knee.

 

Whip or Cane: Hunting whip or cane if desired.

 

Horse: Well presented, clean and un-plaited mane. Wear a red ribbon in tail for a kicking horse and a green ribbon for a young horse.

 

Tack: Clean, plain and discreet, black or brown. No decorated bridles. Numnahs should be discreet in colour - dark brown, black or white.

 

 

 


Hunting

(November-March)

Head Gear: Good fitting hunt cap, black or navy (ladies) or Bowler. Top hat may be worn by gentlemen.


Only Masters and Hunt staff should wear the ribbon down on their hats showing their authority from the back.


Good fitting skull cap with blue or black silk.

 

Coat: Hunting coat black (gentlemen) or navy (ladies).


Plain buttons unless the Hunt Button has been awarded for dedication or special services to the hunt.

3 buttons for subscribers (silver).

4 buttons for masters (brass).

5/6 buttons for hunt staff (brass). 


The only decoration is a poppy worn before remberance sunday or a black armband if in mourning.

 

Scarlet Coat: Males only. Reserved for Masters, Huntsman, Whips, amature whips, past masters and by invitation. Hunt secretary or female masters wear a yellow collar.


Shirt: Collar-less hunting shirt with a white, tied stock.

Plain, gold stock pin worn horizontally with a tidy knot.

 

Waistcoat: If desired, tattersal check or plain mustard.

 

Gloves: White or buff.

 

Breeches or Jodphurs: Buff or canary yellow. White to be worn with a scarlet coat.

 

Boots: Long black for Black/Navy coats or brown for tweed.

Spurs should be secured so they sit above the heel.

Garter straps worn below the knee.

If worn garter buckle and spur buckle should be in line.

Black tops are acceptable.

Mahogany or tan topped boots to be worn only with a scarlet coat.

 

Whip or Cane: Hunting whip or cane if desired.

Lash to be attached to thong if used.

 

Horse: Well presented, clean and all stable stains removed. Plaited mane or hogged. Please wear a red ribbon in the tail for a kicking horse and a green ribbon for a young horse.

 

Tack: Clean, plain and discreet, black or brown. No decorated bridles. Numnahs should be discreet in colour - dark brown, black or white.

 

Chlidren: Children should wear a tweed jacket with buff, light brown, canary or cream jodphurs.


Skull caps should have a dark velvet cover.


Clean, polished jodphur boots or boots can be worn.


Shirt and tie-pony club ties and badges to be worn by members.
